A NEW road at a key gateway into Liverpool will bring further economic benefit to the city, according to the city’s economic development company.

Liverpool Vision has just completed Innovation Boulevard, which links the Edge Lane gateway to Wavertree Road at Liverpool Innovation Park and will open for traffic from midday today.

The site, which also contains public space, including a park, is home to Liverpool Innovation Park, which incorporates Wavertree Technology Park, Marconi’s former HQ and the former MTL site. Six development plots have also been made available, opening up the former MTL site.

Jim Gill, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, said: “The park already supports the growth of knowledge-intensive and technology-based businesses both from within, and attracted to, the city region, but now with access to the new serviced development plots we will see more high-calibre businesses moving in, bringing further activity and economic benefits to this important area of the city.”

Paul Lakin, director of land and property at the NWDA, said:  “Liverpool Innovation Park is crucial to the continued growth of Liverpool’s knowledge economy. The opening of Innovation Boulevard will create new opportunities for the expansion of the Park, helping to attract further business investment into the area.”
