Shell hires Hertel at Stanlow

INDUSTRIAL services company Hertel has agreed a seven year maintenance contract with Shell UK covering the Stanlow refinery in Cheshire.

The new contract is for maintenance services including insulation, scaffolding and painting as well as civil and mechanical engineering activities.

Hertel has worked at the Stanlow refinery for more than 24 years and has more than 500 employees on site.

David Fitzsimons, managing director of Hertel UK and Ireland, said: “The new contract is a demonstration of the close working relationship we have developed with Shell UK.” 

“Our dedicated on-site management presence has helped us to gain a deeper understanding of the refinery’s needs and means we can react quickly.”

Planning is now under way for a major overhaul programme of a number of production units starting in January 2010.
