Insurance broker opens in Liverpool

INSURANCE broker Mercury West Associates has opened a new office in Liverpool.

The Hertfordshire-based firm, which has developed a niche providing insurance services for footballers, entertainers and other high net-worth individuals, said that the new office at Alexandra Tower on Princes Parade will be run by Colin McKenna, who was previously a national development manager for Aviva.

Managing director Katie Small said that since the £6m-turnover firm launched in 2004 it had been “inundated” with requests from high net worths to insure valuable items such as Bugattis, Bentleys and expensive jewellery.

She said: “By opening a new office in Liverpool we will be able to significantly improve and expand our services across the north of England as well as Wales and Scotland.
