Jobs to go with foundry closure

A LANCASHRE foundry business is to be wound-down and closed with the loss of 29 jobs.
Burnley-based Lupton Smallshaw, which had been operating for more than 100 years and was a subsidiary of Turkington Industries, has appointed Manchester accountancy firm Beeever and Struthers to manage the process.
Charles MacMillan, partner and head of corporate recovery at the firm said the company, based on Trafalgar Street, was insolvent and it was unable to continue trading.
He said: “The business has never recovered from a fire in November 2008 and its parent company is unfortunately unable to provide further funds to sustain its trading. Everyone involved obviously regrets the loss of jobs in these difficult times.
“Turkington Industries does however intend to provide certain funds for the creditors of Lupton Smallshaw.”
