Capita Symonds wins Coronation Street deal

CAPITA Symonds has won its second major deal with ITV involving the relocation of Coronation Street to the MediaCity:UK site.
The firm, which provided strategic property advice to the broadcaster during its negotiations with Peel over its move to MediaCity:UK, has been appointed as civil, structural and geo-environmental engineers to the project to build a bespoke studio and production centre for Coronation Street on a 7.7-acre site at Trafford Wharf.
The site is next to the Imperial War Museum North museum and links to the main MediaCity:UK complex via a new bridge across the Manchester Ship Canal.
The firm has been appointed as engineers by project manager Mace.
The new facility, which still needs planning consent from Trafford Council, include a new external set, two sound stage buildings, specialist production facilities and offices as well as dressing rooms and meeting space for the production staff and cast.
