2ergo scores US win as sales increase

MOBILE phone software firm 2ergo announced this morning that it has signed an agreement to provide mobile marketing consultancy and project management services to American mobile network US Cellular.

The Salford Quays-based firm said that it will develop platforms for SMS and MMS programs, as well as mobile websites and coupons for US Cellular to use in direct marketing campaigns to its 6.1m customers.

The announcement came as the firm revealed that it had increased sales in the six months to February 28 by 7% to £11m, but it still declared a pre-tax loss of £71,000, although this was a marked improvement on last year’s loss of £893,000 in the same period.

Joint CEO Neale Graham said 2ergo had “seen further strong progress in the first half”, winning business in its main target markets and building a solid sales pipeiline.

He also hailed the US Cellular deal as “a key strategic agreement that highlights our ability to provide a wide range of mobile solutions and managed services to a major carrier”.

“We will support U.S. Cellular to deliver a key part of its strategy to reach new and existing consumers via their preferred marketing channel – their mobile phones – with the aim of increasing customer service, brand loyalty and average revenue per user.”

The company said that there had been a “huge upswing in interest” in the market for some of its products given the growth of the smartphone market and the launch of tablet computers such as the IPad.

It added that it expects the investment made in its technology platforms over the past 11 years would now start to pay dividends as more large firms target the market for mobile apps.
