Online plumber hosts flood of enquiries

AN ONLINE plumbing and heating equipment business has said it is on course to achieve turnover of £11m this year following a period of rapid growth.

Plumbnation, which is based at Bromborough on the Wirral, said that is also expects staff numbers to increase from 11 to 20 over the next 18 months as it gears up to meet increasing demand.

The business, which is still only in its fourth year, has seen its sales grow from £2.3m in its first year to £8m last year. It is run by managing director Royden Evans, who worked for a division of plumbing merchant Travis Perkins before deciding to set up his own business.

Evans said that site visitor numbers in 2010 almost doubled from 722,000 to 1.4m last year.

He said: “We are continuing to invest significantly in our ecommerce platform with a new look website due to launch in the next few weeks aimed at improving the customer experience.

“We have led the way in terms of innovation in our sector with the use of online customer guides, product video demonstrations and a sophisticated online heating calculator allowing customers to match the most appropriate products to their home’s needs.”
