Work starts on Middleton Aldi scheme

KIRKLAND Developments has begun work on a new Aldi supermarket at Middleton, north Manchester.
The development consists of a 16,671 sq ft Aldi supermarket and a separate 15,000 sq ft retail unit on the site of the former Parkfield Industrial Estate at Manchester Old Road.
Enabling works including the demolition of the old estate have now begun and are being carried out by contractor Williams Tarr.
Rod Hogarth, managing director of Kirkland Developments, said: “We are delighted to finally be on site to deliver this new scheme in Middleton.
“The site has long been in need of improvement, and will provide a welcome boost to the local economy. We have tried hard to work with the local community and keep them informed as the project has progressed.”
The project has been managed by Lambert Smith Hampton. Development director Richard Moffatt said: “It is enormously gratifying to be involved with a project from its inception and bring it to a successful conclusion.”
The vacant 15,000 sq ft unit on the site is currently being marketed by retail agent Cheetham & Mortimer.
