Eric Wright lands £8.5m of new work

ERIC Wright Construction, part of Preston-based Eric Wright Group, has won two new construction contracts worth a combined £8.5m.
The firm secured a £6m deal to extend and redevelop Walney School at Barrow-in-Furness and a £2.5m contract to fit out the new Booths supermarket unit at Peel Group’s Mediacity:UK development at Salford Quays.
Work at Walney School, which is a secondary school, include a new sports hall and 10 classrooms in a steel and timber-framed building with a Sedum turf roof; alterations to an existing entrance block with new classrooms and a staircase added; alterations to the existing servery with a new layout and fitted kitchen; and alterations to the existing art room and a new science block.
The work is being carried out for Cumbria County Council over four phases and will take 65 weeks to complete.
