Bester bows out at Topps Tiles

THE co-founder of retail chain Topps Tiles has stood down from his role as chairman.
Barry Bester, who still owns more than 10% of the shares in Handforth-based Topps, had been with the business for 26 years.
He is succeeded by former MP Michael Jack, who has been on the board since 1999.
Mr Bester, who stodd down from his executive position some years ago, said he is planning to focus on his other business interests.
“I have chosen to resign as Chairman of Topps Tiles after a wonderful 26 years with the business, as I have been spending an increasing amount of my time on my other private business interests.
“I offer my best wishes to my successor Michael Jack, with whom I have worked for
many years.”
New chairman Michael Jack said: ” “Topps Tiles is a remarkable and robust company. For me to have been chosen by the board to succeed Barry Bester as its chairman is a very great honour.
“I know we have a strong management team and great staff and I am looking forward to working with them all so that, together, we can continue the development of the range of products and services which our customers want.”
