i3 makes awards shortlist

HAYDOCK-based i3 Group has been shortlisted for a national business award.

The fibre optics specialist is one of five finalists to be shortlisted in the Technology and Innovation category of the CBI Growing Business Awards.

The awards ceremony celebrates some of the most successful entrepreneurs and businesses in the country and will be held in London next month.

Established in 2002 by Elfed Thomas, i3 Group has pioneered the use of the sewer system to build low cost super fast fibre optic networks.

The business has six divisions and has expanded overseas. In August it entered into a joint venture agreement to launch H2O Ireland.

Mr Thomas said: “The company has come a long way since it was formed seven years ago and we are currently working on a number of very exciting projects throughout the UK and abroad. We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award and to be recognised for our innovation.”

The awards will take place on November 26 at the London Marriot Hotel in Grosvenor Square.
