Shortlist revealed for 2011 St Nick awards

THE leading names in North West corporate recovery are preparing to lock horns in the 2011 St Nick Turnaround Awards.
Organised for the second year in this region by turnaround investor Endless, the St Nick awards recognise the excellence of professionals in the turnaround and restructuring community in the North West.
The event, which takes place at Museum of Science and Industry is on June 9, and will raise funds for two charities, Wood Street Mission in Manchester, and Endless’ own charity, “The Turnaround Foundation”, which focuses on helping individuals turn around their lives and overcome adversity.
Last year’s inaugural event at Manchester Art Gallery raised more than £5,000 for Francis House children’s hospice and was attended by more than 300 professionals.
Deloitte’s head of corporate recovery Bill Dawson took the coveted title of Turnaround Professional of the Year after a public vote.
He is in the running again this year along with: Dave Rimmer of Barclays; Dermot Power – BDO; Julian Heathcote – Deloitte ; Tom Jack – Ernst & Young; Brian Green – KPMG and John Dewhirst – Vincere.
The title of Company Director of the Year will be contested by David Hewitt, Peter Jones and Steve Benger, while no fewer than 14 bright young professionals are on the shortlist for the Rising Star award.
The contenders are: Miles Rothbury – Barclays ; Rob James – Deloitte; Rebecca O’Callaghan – DLA Piper; Daniella Thompson – DWF; Kris Aspin – Ernst & Young;
Tom Ackroyd – HSBC; Joe Speakman – Irwin Mitchell ; Richard Harrison – KPMG;
Ria Kelsall – Lloyds Banking Group; Lawrence Edwards – PwC; Oliver Wright – PwC;
Paul Carter – Royal Bank of Scotland; Andrew Kilheeney – Royal Bank of Scotland and Jennifer Moore – Squire Sanders Hammonds.
Warwick Ley, partner at Endless, said “We were genuinely delighted by the enthusiasm and excitement for last year’s awards, which seems to be carrying on to 2011.
“You would struggle to find a stronger restructuring advisory community throughout the country, so this year’s competition for the top accolades is expected to be fierce and hard-earned.”
