Lancs town hall turned into business centre

THE former town hall at Great Harwood near Blackburn has been reopened as a business centre following its £500,000 redevelopment by Globe Enterprises.

The listed Victorian building, now known as The Chambers, will now be operated by not-for-profit Hyndburn Enterprise Trust which will offer flexible workspace for start-up enterprises. Rates inclusive of services such as heating and lighting start from £39 per week. Start-ups will also be offered business advice, secretarial services and book-keeping.

Globe Enterprises is a partnership between Barnfield Construction, Hyndburn Borough Council and local businessman Stuart Nevinson. It received funding for the project from the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI) via economic development body Regenerate Pennine Lancashire.

Regenerate chairman Dennis Mendoros said: “Globe Enterprises and Barnfield Construction have completed a fantastic refurbishment & modernisation of this Victorian building.

“The Chambers will provide perfect premises for 15 new businesses and their staff. The business advice on offer will provide them with the initial support they need to grow and be successful, revitalising the centre and increasing local employment opportunities in Great Harwood.”
