Bright future for lighting firm after funding boost

AN innovative company which manufactures and installs energy-saving LED lighting is on track for a bright future after securing a funding deal.
Atherton-based MHA Lighting, which is expected to turn over £4m this year, has sealed a six-figure working capital facility from NatWest and RBS Invoice Finance to support its growth plans.
The company has developed a patented technology which delivers light, low heat emissions and a longer life span. It can also provide energy savings of up to 80% compared with more traditional lighting sources.
Founded just two years ago, the firm, which employs 30, has already developed a strong customer base which includes national retailers, NHS trusts and food chains.
Recently it beat off competition from national lighting firms to supply its LED solutions at Manchester Airport’s terminal two and terminal three car parks. The airport is expected to save up to £80,000 a year in electricity costs as a result.
The NatWest facility ensures the company has the working capital in place to continue growing its order book.
MHA Lighting managing director Tom Harrison, said: “We are delighted with the positive responses we have received towards our range of lighting solutions.
“We provide each client with a bespoke solution based upon a quality product, which is designed and made in the UK, and we are confident this approach will help secure more orders.
“As we take on more work it is essential to have the capital in place to cover the costs we incur at the start of each job. The funding we have secured from NatWest now provides us with this.”
Anne Johnson from NatWest and Matthew White from RBS Invoice Finance provided the funding. Anne, a senior relationship Manager at NatWest, said: “Tom and the rest of his management team have established a niche manufacturing business in less than two years.
“MHA is a great success story and we are very happy to support its ongoing development.”
