A Manchester entrepreneur has launched a new venture that will aim to combine a price comparison website with social networking.
Shopow, set up by Kevin Flood, lets users follow friends and other shoppers, and personalises product searches and reviews.
Mr Flood, chief executive, said: “We wanted to create a new shopping experience. At the click of a button, you can see what your friends have bought and their experience of the product. This really is personalised shopping and utilises the power of social networking.”

THE University of Salford has announced a new partnership focusing on research and innovation with the digital marketing agency Fast Web Media.
The relationship will see the University collaborating with Salford-based Fast Web Media in a range of areas including search and social media marketing.
Stuart Wells, director of management development programmes, for Salford Business School, said: “Search and social media marketing is one of the fastest growing areas in the whole digital marketing arena.”
Fast Web Media, which also has an office in London, provides clients with award-winning digital services, specialising in online marketing, search engine optimisation (SEO), mobile applications, social media and website development. Salford said the partnership builds on the existing industry links.

A Manchester business has teamed up with exhibition and project space The International 3 in a bid to bring contemporary art to new audiences.
The collaboration at Vermilion, a large restaurant close to Manchester City’s ground, will feature the work of international artists.
Vermilion is currently undergoing an expansion that will create around 50 permanent new jobs in a new 800-seat banqueting hall being built on the site. Vermilion is owned by import and processing firm Seamark.
Manzur Ahmed, son of Seamark founder Iqbal Ahmed and the restaurant’s managing director, said: “Our aim is to bring the world of contemporary art to an even wider audience, and gives our guests a taste of the fantastic work being created by artists both in the North West and internationally.
