Administrators called to dangerous goods firm

ADMINISTRATORS have been called in at a Greater Manchester firm that specialises in delivering dangerous goods.

Strand Transport Services (STS) of Rochdale moves packaged dangerous goods, such as explosives and radioactive material, on a next-day delivery basis.

According to its website it has become the leading specialist distributor for radiopharmaceuticals and radioactive isotope deliveries for blue chip manuafacturers in Europe and the US.

Insolvency specialists at the accountancy firm Leonard Curtis have been appointed to handle the affairs of the company. They declined to comment on the appointment but it is likely they will be looking for a buyer for the business or for its assets.

STS operated four depots in the UK and two in continental Europe. It’s not known how many staff the company employs.
