Melbourne toasts milestone with 30% growth
INTERNET hosting company Melbourne, has celebrated its 10th anniversary with a 30% surge in annual turnover.
The independent firm, based at Manchester Technopark in Hulme said sales topped £2m in the last financial year, with gross profits coming in at £1.1m.
Founder and managing director, Daniel Keighron-Foster – who launched the business aged 18 – believes Melbourne’s growth will continue this year with £3m turnover the goal, towards a target of £10m by 2014.
He said: “We’re delighted with our progress over the last 12 months. The company’s growth is all the more impressive given the significant investment we’ve made in the business since the start of the year.
“Over the last six months, we’ve increased the number of employees by 50%, invested £50,000 in a new cloud computing service and upgraded our facilities with the launch of a new 22-rack suite.
“We hope this investment will safeguard the future development of the business and allow us to grow organically. “
The company provides fixed and virtual hosting solutions for over 3,000 local, national and international clients in the IT and creative sectors, including PZ Cussons, fashion brand Bench and JJB Sports.
A computer whizkid, Keighron-Foster was still at university when he set up Melbourne. The company, which has 24 staff, operates three data centres.
“We’ve worked incredibly hard over the last decade to deliver the best possible service and support for our clients without losing sight of our ethics or principles.
“Reaching this milestone is down to every single member of our team who live, eat and breathe the job – I couldn’t be more proud of the company and our achievements over the last 10 years,” Keighron-Foster added.
