Luty becomes property head at Nationwide

NATIONWIDE Building Society has appointed Steve Luty as its regional director, heading up its property team based out of Manchester.

Mr Luty, who has 20 years’ experience in the banking industry, will focus on building Nationwide Commercial Property’s presence in the region, offering finance products for the purchase or refinance of retail, office, industrial, and residential property.

He worked at Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland before joining Alliance & Leicester in 2006. There he set up and managed its national business centre network, which he developed to offer a full range of banking services to small and medium-sized businesses.

The new role means he rejoins Bryce Glover, divisional director for Nationwide Commercial, who left his role as managing director of Alliance & Leicester’s commercial banking arm in December after the bank’s takeover by Spanish giant Santander.

Mr Luty said: “My aim is to continue to enhance the position that Nationwide has achieved in the North West, developing the team of relationship property managers whilst building on its long term commitment to offering industry leading levels of service and value to customers.”

Mr Glover added: “With his wealth of experience I am sure that he will continue to help Nationwide develop its commercial property lending portfolio, further reinforcing our position as a significant force in the North West – helping businesses obtain the funding they need to invest in commercial property.”
