Awards recognise high-flying apprentices

THE North West Aerospace Alliance (NWAA) will celebrate the work of apprentices at a special awards ceremony next week.

The North West Aerospace/Defence Apprentice Awards, now in their tenth year, will highlight the work of 18 short-listed candidates.

There are four prizes: The AV Roe trophy, awarded to the best apprentice from a company of any size; the Irene Short trophy given to the best candidate from companies with less than 500 employees; the One to Watch trophy for the apprentice who has shown future potential; and the Best North West Training Provider award.

Martin Wright, chief executive of the NWAA, said: “Young people are key to the future of this sector, and it is vital that we ensure they receive the best training and development possible.”

The North West aerospace industry contributes more than £6bn to the UK economy. The awards will be held at the Imperial War Museum in Manchester on October 29.
