Wholesaler gets the Green Light for change

A WARRINGTON-based lighting wholesaler has been relaunched with a £1.25m investment, and now plans to selling energy efficient lighting direct to businesses.
Green Lite Solutions UK is the new trading name for Direct Lamp Distribution, a former £1m turnover wholesaler and distributor of lighting equipment to retail and trade buyers.
The business, first set up in 2004, has re-launched to provide energy efficient lighting to commercial customers and directors John Millar and Mark Dempsey aim to double turnover with the new company focus.
The company now offers an energy audit of the current lighting systems at a customer’s premises, which is followed by a suggested redesign using energy efficient LED lighting, to lower energy bills and reduce carbon footprint.
It has invested around £800,000 of the £1.25m funding from RBS Group in a fleet of 45 new vehicles.
John Millar, managing director of Green Lite Solutions UK, said: “We took the decision to reposition the business in response to changes in the market and feedback from our customers.
“It is clear that rising energy costs are becoming a big concern for many businesses and we are confident that we can work with both existing and new customers to help them address this issue.”
The pair also own and operate Eurotec Services GB, a sister company in Warrington which provides electrical maintenance and testing services to blue chip clients such as national retailers and DIY chains. A total of 50 people are employed across both businesses.
The RBS business & commercial team based in Liverpool provided a £450,000 Enterprise Finance Guarantee loan to help with the re-launch. Lombard, the asset finance arm of The RBS Group, provided an £800,000 finance line to enable Green Lite to purchase the vehicle fleet.
