In brief: JMW’s net gain; Literature festival wins sponsorship; Amey success & more

LAW firm JMW has reported a surge in inquiries and work from the Internet since instructing web design and SEO agency ICOM.

Traffic to the site has increased by 30% since its relaunch in December and as listings on Google have climbed, prospective clients contacting JMW for legal services have increased by 500%.

The rise has been particularly noticeable in the last month, where JMW has achieved top ranking listings for several Manchester clinical negligence and divorce-related terms as well as for some commercially-related services. In the last month 20% of new clients came from the JMW website.

Joy Kingsley, senior partner at JMW said: “Obviously I knew the capabilities of ICOM through using them for five years at my previous firm.  Inevitably the number of people now instructing JMW through web related services has greatly increased.”

HSBC Premier, the bank’s premium banking service, is to sponsor the Manchester Literature Festival.

The partnership sees the continuation of HSBC Premier’s support of literature, which began with sponsorship of the Oxford Literary Festival in April.

This year will be the sixth year of the Manchester Literature Festival, which takes place in October. it is a two week programme of talks, readings and performances.

SUPPORT services group Amey – which employs around 1,000 people across the North West – has won a leading human resources award for the way it manages and motivates its employees.

The company, which has offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Warrington and Halton, was named Team of the Year at the prestigious Employee Benefits Awards 2011, in recognition of the way it delivers pioneering training, wellbeing and benefits programmes for employees.
