Appointments: Bruntwood appoints new marketing chief, MIDAS boosts team, and more…

BRUNTWOOD, the North West commercial property company, has appointed Kate Harrison as marketing director.

Ms Harrison, 40,  is a former marketing director at Manchester Airports Group and had recently acted as interim chief executive t CityCo, the management company responsible for Manchester city centre.

Family-owned  Bruntwood has extensive commercial property interests in Manchester, Liverpool, and Leeds, and has recently been expanding in other cities, including Birmingham.

The company has been looking for a new marketing chief since the departure of Simon Scott who emigrated to Cananda.

MIDAS, Greater Manchester’s inward investment agency, has hired Trevor Millen as strategic account director on a part-time basis.

Mr Millen  a former divisional chief executive of leading canned food and soft drinks importer and manufacturer Princes Group, will work with the business development team at MIDAS to strategically develop relationships with some of Manchester’s key UK and foreign-owned companies.

He said: “Manchester city region already enjoys worldwide recognition among businesses thanks to the outstanding work and achievements of MIDAS.

“My intention is to build and expand upon that awareness in boardrooms and amongst senior decision makers both in the UK and abroad.

“I intend to influence the thoughts and plans of chairmen and chief executives considering expansion and or relocation to bring more jobs and investment to the Manchester city region.”

LIVERPOOL-based recruitment agency The Business Connection is launching a new IT division with the appointment of Tony Battersby to head up the team.

The agency, which has been going for 21 years, said it decided to launch the new division to meet a growing need from North West firms.

Mr Battersby will head up the division across the four branches in Chester, Wrexham, Manchester and Liverpool.

Mr Battersby sits on the National Executive committee of TEAM – The Employment Agents Movement – and currently holds the position of TEAM’s Midlands regional director.

He said: “IT recruitment is a rapidly expanding sector and I am very pleased that I will be able to help fulfil this growing need in the North West with The Business Connection.

MANCHESTER-based design consultancy Studio North has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Kerry Dennison as account director.

Kerry  joins Studio North from Finch – the Liverpool advertising agency. She has previously held positions at Elmwood in Leeds and Iris in Manchester. 

Studio North has recently won a series of high profile new clients including; Amec, Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Manchester.

LIVERPOOL-based serviced office provider Your Space has announced the resignation of non-executive director Raymond Harris. The firm this week agreed a CVA deal with its creditors to avoid insolvency.
