Cains toast Chinese export deal

LIVERPOOL brewer Cains has secured its first major export order – shipping almost 12,000 bottles of lager to China.
The Cains Export, boxed in a Union Jack themed container, left UK shores this week destined for Shangha – Liverpool’s twin city.
A successful contract with a significant Chinese distributor follows months of hard work by the brewery to secure overseas sales.
The next target is the US market, where Cains has already made advances via a huge Las Vegas beer convention.
Joint managing director Sudarghara Dusanj said of the opportunity in China: “We have worked with Liverpool Vision and UK Trade and Industry to sell the Liverpool brand as much as we sell Cains.
“As markets such as China open up there is a definite appetite for new products from the UK which distributors are keen to introduce.”
Liverpool Vision investment director Mike Taylor said: “This is exactly the kind of export deal we are looking for Merseyside companies to secure.
“Cains is a strong Liverpool brand and I’m sure the lager will go down so well that China will soon be clamouring for more.”
