Laterooms’ founder funds kids’ trips

STEVE Walsh, founder of the website hotel room comparison service laterooms.com, has launched a not-for-profit website to help underprivileged children.
Isawthesea.com is a comparison site which searches room rates from several booking agents to generate a commission which will be used to cover hotel costs on trips organised by child charities.
The idea for the website came when Mr Walsh saw the positive impact of a seaside holiday on a group of Romanian orphans who were taken by his brother, Paul, to the Black Sea resort of Mamaia.
Mr Walsh said: “I wanted to launch a website that utilised my expertise in e-commerce for a worthwhile cause that really does make a difference to people’s lives.”
The brothers have donated £50,000 of their own money to the site’s commission fund which will be used to bankroll holidays.
Mr Walsh added: “Isawthesea.com will be the first of a number of initiatives I am planning to make use of the incredible commercial power of the internet and use it for worthy causes.
“Not-for-profit websites such as isawthesea.com are all about identifying a service that is useful to consumers which benefits those in need, without any additional cost to the consumer.”
