Appointments: Brammer’s Fraser gets non-exec role; Comms head for Salford Uni; Mcr City adds to team; and more…
IAN Fraser, the chief executive of Manchester-based industrial parts firm Brammer, has been appointed a non-executive director of Acal.
He will take up the role at the pan-European electronics components distributor in January 2010.
Prior to joining Brammer in 1998, Mr Fraser worked for Reliance Security Group, initially as managing director and subsequently as group managing director. His earlier career was mainly spent with Raychem Corporation in senior management positions.

THE University of Salford has appointed Chris Larkin as its new communications director.
Mr Larkin has previously been the head of brand and corporate communications for Marks & Spencer Money, where he led the creation and launch of the brand.
He has also worked at Hill & Knowlton PR and Nationwide Building Society.
He starts work at Salford at the end of November and will be responsible for managing internal communications, media relations, and branding both in corporate marketing and on the web.
Mr Larkin said: “The University of Salford is a wonderful challenge for me. It has an excellent reputation and there are many exciting initiatives – such as its presence at MediaCityUK from 2011 and its plans to develop its campus – all opportunities to enhance its reputation even further as an enterprising university. I’m really looking forward to getting involved.”

MANCHESTER City Football Club has added to its sales team with two new appointments.
Mark Penn, 38, and Clare Woolstencroft, 28, have joined the stadium as business development executives, with Mr Penn working alongside the Hospitality team, and Ms Woolstencroft supporting the Conference and Events team.
The pair will be responsible for identifying new business and sales opportunities in their respective areas. A key part of their role will be networking with businesses in the city to highlight the award winning matchday and non-matchday facilities at the stadium.
David Chell, head of sales at City, said: “We have bolstered our sales team significantly over the last 12 months. These appointments strengthen our drive to communicate to businesses why the City of Manchester Stadium is the perfect hospitality venue and place to do business.”

MANCHESTER-based design company magneticNorth has created a new associate board to sit under the existing founding board.
The company has created a four-strong team to work closely with the board to continue to drive growth and further strengthen the company’s status as one of the world’s leading digital design companies.
The associate board consists of technical director Sanjeev Shewhorak, interactive design director Adam Todd, marketing director Kate Towey, and production director Warren Drumm.
All have been newly promoted into the roles from existing roles at the company, with the exception of Mr Drumm.
