Pozzoni swoops on Tony Bennett

THE BOSS of Bennett Architects, which went in to voluntary liquidation last month, has since been hired by rival firm Pozzoni.

Altrincham-based Pozzoni, which last week revealed to TheBusinessDesk that it has expanded into London, has hired Tony Bennett as a consultant.

David Hughes, Pozzoni’s senior partner, told TheBusinessDesk: “We are really pleased to have attracted Tony. He adds to our industrial and commercial expertise.

“We are active in those sectors already and Tony complements them perfectly. He has an excellent track record and portfolio on commercial work.”

Bennett Architects entered into creditors voluntary liquidation on October 15, with eight employees, including all the directors, being made redundant.

Jeremy Paul Oddie and Julie Beavis of Mitchell Charlesworth were appointed as joint liquidators.

TheBusinessDesk understands that Mr Bennett had invested considerable personal monies to keep the Portland Street-based business capitalised but the level of financial support required became unsustainable as the economic downturn had been longer than the directors had anticipated.

The company was severely impacted as the amount of work available deteriorated and existing clients increased the number of instructions and projects placed on hold.

At the date of liquidation, around £415,000 was owed to creditors and shareholders.
