Double delight for Proventec and HEG

TWO of the region’s healthcare companies have reported increased sales and contract wins.
Healthcare Enterprise Group said sales at Ebiox, in which it holds a 20% stake, has reported sales growth of 53% in the three months to September 2009, compared to the same period last year.
It said the increase in sales was down to the implementation of a new management team, and an £800,000 cash injection from private investors, as well as increased public concern over swine flu.
The period to the end of September was the first under Ebiox’s new management, headed by John Honey, who was formerly senior vice president at Reckitt Benckiser.
The business has also launched a new biodegradable hard surface antimicrobial wipe.
It said Great Ormond Street Hospital has just completed a successful six month trial of the disinfectant wipes and Ebiox is currently in discussions with other potential customers, while also seeking to extend the use of the Ebiox Trionic formulation to other healthcare and hygiene applications.
Lyndon Gaborit, executive deputy chairman of Healthcare Enterprise, said: “We are delighted with the sales growth announced by Ebiox today. Whilst we have seen some increased demand as a result of concerns about swine flu, Ebiox has under its dedicated new management and with additional funding, displayed strong growth and is developing a solid pipeline of new products.”
Meanwhile, hygenic products company Proventec has won a national contract with NHS Scotland for the supply of cleaning and janitorial products.
David Chestnutt, chief executive of Proventec, said: “This contract with NHS Scotland demonstrates the high quality of Proventec Healthcare’s products and services. Proventec Healthcare was established to provide a complete hygienic offering. Initial feedback from the procurement team has been extremely positive.”
