Appointments:Cartwright promoted to partner at JMW & more

MANCHESTER law firm JMW Solicitors has promoted Gordon Cartwright to partner.

Mr Cartwright has been with JMW for nine years having started as a trainee. He is a member of the firm’s insurance litigation department where he specialises in high value personal injury claims.

He was recently ranked as “up-and-coming” in personal injury by the legal directory Chambers and Partners, 2010 edition.

Richard Powell, partner and head of insurance litigation at the firm said: “Gordon has demonstrated an ability to provide the highest level of service and quality of advice in the most testing of cases.

“We are proud to see how he has developed his career with us since first joining us as a trainee.”

ABBEY College, Manchester, the ndependent school, has appointed Rachel Borland as Principal.

Ms Borland, who joins from an international boarding school in Nigeria. Her
previous positions include: assistant director of studies at the British Council based both in Hong Kong and Jordan; foundation courses coordinator at Bath University and deputy director at Brooke House College in Market Harborough, an independent boarding college.
