Green firms feted by PM

BUSINESSES from Cheshire and Lancashire will be among firms showcasing low carbon innovation at Downing Street this evening.

Kirk Environmental, a methane storage manufacturer from Nelson, and Altrincham-based 3D Web Technologies have been invited to the function ahead of global climate change negotiations which start in Copenhagen on December 7.

Kirk Environmental designs anaerobic digestion tanks that store methane produced from the breakdown of waste produced in domestic or industrial use, which can then be converted into heat or power.

3D Web Technology specialises in creating interactive 3D computer graphics of wind farm developments that allow design teams and planners to take virtual tours around a proposed sites.

The Government sees great potential in the ‘green economy’ and is seeking to position the UK at the forefront of the sector.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown said: “Our transition to a low carbon economy will be a key driver of our future economic prosperity. Kirk Environmental and 3D Web Technologies are at the forefront of this transformation. Their innovation and expertise demonstrates why the UK is one of best places in the world for low carbon business.”
