Royle Family writers among media fund recipients

A PRODUCTION company owned by the writers of TV shows The Royle Family and Sunshine is among the beneficiaries of the latest round of North West media funding.
Manchester-based Jellylegs Productions, owned by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, has received £40,000 from Northwest Vision and Media’s Regional Attraction Fund (RAF). It will use the funds to appoint a head of development.
The RAF supports media businesses in the region and encourages other firms to open offices in the North West in a bid to strengthen the sector. A London firm called Glasshead received £30,000 to help set up an office in Altrincham.
Now in its fifth year the fund promotes the development and growth of companies within the TV, film, games, interactive and digital sectors. A total of £537,695 has been provided, with funding packages ranging from £10,000 to £50,000.
The beneficiaries in Greater Manchester include: Jellylegs – £40,000; T3D – £50,000; Studio Liddell – £40,000; Corporation Pop – £30,000; BOX – £30,000; Platform Productions – £25,000; Nine Lives Media – £25,000; Influential Media – £20,000; Scarlet Television – £15,000; Urban Canyons – £14,000; The Gate Films – £10,000; The Mob Film Company – £10,000.
Merseyside-based recipients were: Citrus Suite – £50,000; Catalyst Outsourcing – £40,000; Milky Tea – £24,900; Dou Yi Dou – £24,795. Cheshire: Carbon Digital – £34,000; Glasshead – £30,000. Cumbria: K2 Media – £25,000.
