Jobs go at Lythgoe as sale falls through

ADMINISTRATORS for Manchester car dealership Lythgoe Motors have failed to find buyers for two of the company’s three sites, resulting in the loss of 44 jobs.

Joint administrators for Lythgoe, which went into administration earlier this week, said that “complex and time constrained” negotiations with a potential buyer for two of the company’s three remaining sites in Rochdale and Oldham had broken down.

As a result, 21 employees at the Oldham site and 23 at the Rochdale site have been made redundant with immediate effect, Zolfo Cooper said.

Negotiations with potential buyers for the company’s remaining site at Manchester Rd, in Bolton are, however, ongoing.

Kevin Coates, of Zolfo Cooper said: “Regrettably we were unable to reach agreement with the potential buyer for the Oldham and Rochdale sites and in light of no other immediate expressions of interest for the sites, we have been left with little option but to cease trading immediately.

“We would like to thank the Company’s dedicated employees who have been supportive and committed to the business throughout the process. We are endeavouring to achieve a possible sale of the remaining site and will keep all parties abreast of developments.”
