Harvey Nash opens Manchester office

RECRUITER Harvey Nash has announced plans to open a new recruiting hub in Manchester.

The firm, which specialises in IT recruitment and consultancy, said that it was opening its new Northern base in the city in response to a greater demand among its clients for software developers and web specialists in the region.

It said that recent economic trends for the region had remained positive and that a rapidly-expanding tech sector was improving the employment landscape.

The office’s newly-appointed operations manager, Jonathan Potter, said: “With organisations such as the BBC relocating a number of key departments to Salford Quays, and many other creative digital roles being created – by companies both large and small – it is a great time to be expanding into Manchester and the North West.

“We are confident that the skilled IT talent exists here to support our fast growing clients and we have already hosted a major CIO summit in the city to discuss the opportunities ahead.”

The consultancy already has a number of significant clients in the area, including The Co-operative Group, Laterooms.com and Electricity North West.

Angie Robinson, chief executive of inward investment agency MIDAS, said: “We’re delighted that Harvey Nash is bringing its expertise in recruitment and IT to a new base in Manchester.  Their presence is an important addition to Manchester’s ongoing development as a major European digital hub.”

Meanwhile, fellow recruiter Project Resource has announced that it is to open its new Manchester office, which will be based at Cheadle Hulme. The firm said that its office would initially be staffed by veteran consultants Karl Mehta and Simon Griffiths.

The firm said that it was “”excited by the opportunities a new office will give us to deliver great customer service to the employers and job seekers in the north as well as all the new faces that will join the business as the office grows”.
