Women in Business Awards shortlist revealed

THE owners of a small animal hotel, art gallery and marketing agencies are among the finalists for the 2010 Northwest Women in Business Awards.

The 26-strong shortlist, across five categories, includes a diverse range of entrepreneurs including forensic consultants, a bakery and freight forwarders.

The judging panel, which said it had received an “unprecedented” number of entries, includes Helen Colley, founder of Farmhouse Fare Foods, Darrell Matthews of the Institute of Directors North West and Carol Wadeson of the Federation of Small Businesses.

Professor Laurie Wood, chair of the judging panel and executive director for enterprise & development at Salford University, said: “The standard of entries was very competitive, it was an excellent field and it was very difficulty to highlight the best but I believe we distilled some worthy winners.”

The winners will be announced at a Gala Awards Dinner at Ribby Hall Village, Wrea Green, Lancashire on January 29, 2010.
