Jobs saved following Merseyside Coatings deal

ALL 44 jobs have been saved at Merseyside Coatings, the Widnes firm that specialises in treatments for steel structures, following a “pre-pack” deal.
The business has been acquired by MCL Coatings which is owned and controlled by the directors of Merseyside Coatings.
Administrators Dermot Power and Tracey Pye of the accountancy firm BDO were appointed to the company at the end of June.
Mr Power said: “The failure of Merseyside Coatings Limited can be attributed to the difficult market conditions, together with significant bad debt. Principally, I am delighted that all jobs have been saved with the transfer of staff to MCL Coatings Limited and that the business can now move forward.”
The company will continue to trade from its Pickerings Road site on the Halebank Industrial Estate but a second 4.4-acre site on Everite Road has been put on the market.
The Manchester office of property consultants Sanderson Weatherall is handling the sale of the 22,725 sq ft warehouse.
