Deals round-up George Davies; Clearwater & Pannone

MANCHESTER law firm George Davies advised Wrexham company Marlin Industries on its acquisition of Cheshire family firm P&S Ashley.

The Sandbach-based firm will be renamed Cheshire Timber & Treatment. It specialises in the manufacture of gates, fencing and garden products for trade and retail markets.

Partner Chris Ross and solicitors Fay Goodman and Sam Mason advised Marlin, which has operations in Manchester and Newport as well as Wrexham and supplies timber and plywood packaging to the cable industry.

THE Manchester office Clearwater Corporate Finance has acted on two significant ‘off-patch’ deals.

The first deal, led by partner Paul Jones, saw the firm advise the shareholders of Alter Technology Group (‘ATG’) on the disposal of its three trading subsidiaries to TUV Nord International GmBH (‘TUV’).

The ATG subsidiaries, have a combined turnover of around €60m and are located in Spain, France and Italy. The second transaction involved the sale of Essex-based Farsound Engineering to RG Industries, a new partnership between Rubicon Partners and Grovepoint Capital. Manchester-based industrial analyst Constantine Biller supported the lead partner Jon Hustler in the deal.

LAW firn Pannone’s corporate finance team advised Danish software developer Trifork on a deal to acquire a controlling interest in London-based Erlang Solutions.

The deal will see Trifork, which is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, and Erlang expand their international footprint in the telecoms, messaging, payment systems and process control sectors. Ursula Gould and Tom Hall advised Trifork.
