Smart Storage revenues hit £1.35m

A SELF storage company with five sites across the North West has recorded growth of almost 40% in 2009.

Liverpool-headquartered Smart Storage has seen annual revenues increase to £1.35m for the year to the end of November 2009, from £985,000 a year earlier.

The firm, which also operates out of Wirral, Preston, Widnes and Warrington, was launched by entrepreneurs Jon Wyles and John Harrington five years ago.

The pair are now on the look-out for more sites across the region to build on this year’s strong growth.

Mr Wyles said: “Before the recession struck, a lot of our domestic business came from people buying and selling their homes, while many expanding businesses also came to us to provide them with the extra space they needed.

“Since the economy went into freefall, our client base has shifted to people moving into rental accommodation or even back with their parents.

“Inevitably, on the commercial side of our business, we have seen a significant increase in customers downsizing or closing down completely.”
