Appointments: Kings Chambers gets new head; UCLAN appoints business champion

MANCHESTER and Leeds-based Kings Chambers has appointed advocate and deputy high court judge Dr Nicholas Braslavsky QC as head of chambers.

Dr Braslavsky, a member of Kings Chambers since 1983 and formerly deputy head of the set, takes on the role previously held by Frances Patterson QC, following her appointment as law commissioner earlier this month.

A civil-only set with more than 80 members, Kings Chambers’ in ranked 13th in the UK, in the Chambers & Partners’ 2010 national rankings.

Dr Braslavsky said: “We aim to consolidate our position regionally and nationally over all of our areas of practice and to grow in number slowly and steadily as we have in the past.

“Secondly we are keen to develop our practice in the North East and, in particular, in Leeds from our chambers’ base in Leeds city centre. We purchased our building in Park Square the week before Christmas and this demonstrates our growing commitment to the region. We hope to have more members based in Yorkshire and the North East, handling more and better cases.”
