Interiors firm Thelwell goes to the wall

A SPECIALIST painting and decorating company which worked on both the Trafford Shopping Centre and the Arndale Centre in Manchester as well as palaces in Oman and Iraq has gone into liquidation.
The insolvency of Merseyside-based David Thelwell Specialist Decorators (DTSD) is being handled by the Skelmersdale office of Refresh Recovery.
TheBusinessDesk.com has learned that director David Thelwell placed the firm into liquidation just before Christmas.
Files deposited at Companies House show that DTSD owed its creditors £31,959 at the time it went into liquidation on December 22.
The Prescot-based company’s website shows that it also worked on Grade I-listed St George’s Hall, in Liverpool, which is regarded as one of the finest neo-classical buildings in the world.
Additionally, it has worked on the the ‘golden gates’ of Warrington Town Hall, the foyers of Cadburys and Schweppes, English Heritage-owned Apsley House which is also known as ‘Number One, London’ and Euro Disney.
A spokesman for Refresh Recovery said: “We have been instructed by the director to carry out a creditors voluntary liquidation.”
The company’s website also states that it had over 25 years’ worth of industry experience and among the specialist services on offer were: historic decoration and restoration, specialist painting techniques, gilding, marbling and graining.
