Jobs go as administrators close TJ Hughes’ Wavertree depot

ADMINISTRATORS Ernst & Young have announced that TJ Hughes’ main warehouse and distribution depot at Wavertree in Liverpool is to close.

The firm said that the depot is no longer required, so 116 of the 132 employees working in the building have been laid off. Sales are continuing at the company’s 56 stores while a sale for part or all of the business is being pursued.

A statement from the administrators said that redundant employees are being provided with help to recover statutory payments for redundancy and lieu of notice.
