Property round-up: Bruntwood completes Cotton Exchange refurb; GL Hearn finds site for Rowland in Preston; and more

BRUNTWOOD has completed a £400,000 refurbishment of its Cotton Exchange building in Liverpool.

The company has created a new reception entrance at the Grade II-listed building, which is currently home to 48 businesses.

The reception area was relocated, unlocking unlocking many of the building’s period features including the restoration of the original internal domes.

Colin Forshaw, head of sales at Bruntwood, said: “The Cotton Exchange is one of the city’s most iconic office buildings and it now has a reception area befitting of its stature.

“When we embarked on the refurbishment works we wanted to give the building a real heart and have succeeded in creating a contemporary focal point that is sympathetic to the Cotton Exchange’s architecture.

“We will continue to invest in the building and maintain its place as one of Liverpool’s most sought-after office addresses.”

GL HEARN’S Manchester land and planning team has secured a site in Longridge with potential for a residential development alongside Preston-based housing developer Rowland Homes.

A planning application for residential housing has now been submitted for the five-acre site off Lower Lane and Dilworth Lane.

GL Hearn initially identified the five-acre site and, acting on behalf of Rowland Homes, the team subsequently negotiated terms for the option to buy the site. The application is for 49 two, three and four-bedroom homes following detailed pre-application discussions with Ribble Valley Council’s planning team.

Richard Heathcote, director at GL Hearn, said:  “We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to assist our client Rowland Homes in securing a site which has been in a neglected state for several years, and putting it to an efficient use with the incorporation of affordable housing in order to meet local needs”.

TWO new lettings have been secured at Barnfield Construction’s Riverside Business Park in Barrowford, Lancashire.

Solvitech Innovations and Clear Square Solutions have both signed up for new space at the Vantage Court development on the scheme, joining existing firms including PRS-Epos, Fusive Limited, Cooke Oil and Denwa.

The landlord was advised by Petty’s Chartered Surveyors on both deals.

The new lettings meant that more than half of the development is now occupied. The site is one of the biggest business park developments on the M65 corridor, next to Junction 13.

Brent Forbes for Petty’s said: “This is a prime location with excellent access to the surrounding motorway networks, presenting a real opportunity to new tenants. The buildings are high specification and the interiors finished to a superb standard.”
