Taberu set to open first high-end Chinese restaurant in Manchester

Taberu has acquired the leasehold of 53 King Street in Manchester to launch the first of a chain of high-end Chinese bao bars targeted at the professional lunchtime market.

The Pan-Asian themed ‘grab and go’ style restaurant will specialise in bao – Chinese steamed buns – and is being run by award winning restauranteurs Victor and Vinny Yu.

Real estate advisory firm GVA has advised on the acquisition of the 1,650sq ft property.

A further two branches of Taberu will come to Manchester next year, followed by three in Leeds and three in Liverpool over the next three years.

James Ratcliffe of the Retail, Hotels and Leisure team at GVA said: “Taberu will be an exciting new addition to King Streets leisure offering.

“Its prime city centre location is an ideal place for the brand to launch in Manchester.

“A further two branches will be arriving in Manchester next year followed by a Leeds and Liverpool roll out, so the acquisition of King Street marks the start of a very exciting journey for Taberu.”
