Bellway to build homes at former hospital site

A typical Bellway development

Housebuilder Bellway Homes has announced plans to transform the former Withington Hospital site on Cavendish Road in West Didsbury, Greater Manchester into a new residential development of 74 new build homes and apartments.

It will develop the 4.74 acre site with a mix of three and four bedroom detached and semi-detached homes and two bedroom apartments.

Boasting a highly desirable location close to Burton Road, the development will be known as Eclipse and appeal to a wide range of purchasers looking for a stylish new home that is within easy reach of Manchester city centre and just a short walk away from the popular boutiques, bars and restaurants of West Didsbury.

A range of different properties will be available.  Both the houses and apartments feature open plan modern fitted kitchens with integrated appliances and contemporary family bathrooms.  The houses will also benefit from en suites to the master bedroom and turfed or landscaped gardens and the apartments will be sold with allocated parking spaces.

Sales director at Bellway Homes, Louise Chamberlain, said: “We’re delighted to have acquired this plot of land and are confident that the development will prove popular with families, first time buyers, young professionals and key workers looking for a high quality, low maintenance home in this highly desirable suburb with its great social scene and superb commuter links.

“With its excellent location in the heart of West Didsbury, we know that Eclipse will prove popular with those looking for their forever home as well as first time buyers.

“Bellway is especially keen to assist as many first purchasers as possible onto the housing ladder in such a key location by working in conjunction with the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.”

Build has recently started on site and is due to take around two years to complete.
