£13m turnover airport maintenance firm snapped up

A Leigh-based airport maintenance contractor has been acquired by national civil engineering firm Colas Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Allied Infrastructure Management, which has a turnover of around £13m and employs 85 staff, has worked across the airport, highways, defence and construction sectors for more than 20 years.

Its senior management team and staff will remain in place and it will continue to operate as a separate entity from Colas, providing its services to its current customers as well as to the wider Colas Group.

Colas, based in Sussex and part of the multi-billion pound international Colas Group, has 20 offices and depots across the UK and around 1,800 employees with a turnover of around £330m.

It said the acquisition extends the range of products and services it can provide for customers, adding that it will provide continued investment to support Allied Infrastructure Management.

Manchester law firm Slater Heelis advised the shareholder of Allied Infrastructure Management and Ballard Evans acted as corporate finance advisers.
