Watch This Space tables plan for Gay Village homes

How Richmond Street homes will look

Urban regeneration specialist Watch This Space has submitted a planning application for the development of a new townhouse scheme on Richmond Street in Manchester  next door to Canal Street – in the heart of the city’s Gay Village.

The news comes after the company acquired the site off market at the start of the year from Stephen Elias.

The planning application includes the comprehensive redevelopment of a derelict site to create seven, three-bed townhouses with integral garages and one, two-bed maisonette apartment.

Advised by Snook Architects and planning consultants Iceni Projects, the houses offer generously sized rooms, en-suite bedrooms and private roof terraces.

The scheme will also provide residents with cycle storage and will be tech efficient offering features such as electric car charging points and mobile monitoring software.

Watch This Space’s founder Michelle Rothwell said: “This housing concept is set to challenge the way that people live and increase the options that are available for couples and families who want to live in Manchester.

“These new townhouses will provide a new city centre solution for people who are looking for a cool, quirky residence who would have otherwise been forced to move outside of the city.”

The decision on the planning application is expected next month, with a start on site in October this year.
