Now phoenix company Excel Media Solutions ceases trading

Excel Media Solutions, the Manchester publishing company that rose from the ashes of Excel Solutions, is understood to have ceased trading with its entire staff of 30 people made redundant.

Insiders said a team of insolvency practitioners entered the company based in Manchester One, Portland Street on Friday. Administrators are Simmonds & Co, based in Stockport.

The independent regional publisher first hit the headlines in January when it went into administration with Leonard Curtis appointed to handle the company’s affairs.

Buxton Press then bought the assets of the company. Excel Media Solutions Ltd, registered in Manchester and with Bernard Galloway as its sole director, was set up in the same month.

Excel Solutions’ size meant it was exempt from filing full accounts to Companies House but the most recent abbreviated and unaudited accounts available show the company made a loss of £66,000 for the year to the end of December 2015.

In notes about it being a going concern, the accounts state that the company’s liabilities exceeded its assets by around £548,500.

“The company relies on the financial support of certain creditors,” it added.

Excel Media Solutions’ website  was today offline today and there was no response from its phone number.
