Big Brother’s Craig Phillips becomes Forterra ambassador

Leading building products manufacturer Forterra has employed Craig Phillips, winner of the original series of Big Brother.

Craig, who won the show in 2000, is also an experienced builder and DIY expert and is set to become Forterra’s brand ambassador for its extensive range of products.

Using Forterra’s products, Craig will be building his dream home near his native Liverpool, which he has been planning for 20 years. The builder will be showcasing Forterra’s bricks, blocks and precast concrete, which include industry recognised brands such as London Brick, Thermalite and Jetfloor.

Construction will start later this year, now that approval has been granted by the local authority.

Craig said: “Forterra is a great British company, with a wide selection of reliable products that are essential for modern construction jobs.

“The quality of Forterra’s range is second-to-none, and I look forward to using them to build my own home.”

Craig began his career in construction as an apprentice bricklayer, before starting his own successful construction company, employing 30 tradesmen and operating with an annual turnover in excess of £1 million, before heading into the Big Brother house 17 years ago where he gained fame as the show’s first ever winner.

He has since presented and produced more than 1,000 DIY and home improvement shows for major broadcasters, including 60 Minute Makeover on ITV.

Helen Newberry, head of marketing at Forterra, said: “Craig is one of the most recognisable builders in the country, and his knowledge and love of construction is plain for all to see. He will be a fantastic representative for Forterra, and we’re very excited to be working with him.”

Craig has joined the company as Forterra celebrates the 140th anniversary of the iconic London Brick, which has been manufactured since 1877 and was used extensively to rebuild Britain during the post-war housing boom.
