Kier has been appointed to deliver a new hospital in Manchester which represents a £70m investment by health and wellbeing provider Nuffield Health.

The hospital will be constructed on the site of Manchester Metropolitan University’s former campus on Hathersage Road.

It will provide more than 90,000 sq ft of healthcare facilities over three floors when complete and will include five operating theatres, an imaging and diagnostic suite, 50 patient rooms and 30 consultation rooms.

Construction is due to begin later this year with a completion date of spring 2019.

John O’Callaghan, Kier Construction Northern managing director, said: “We’re extremely pleased to have been awarded this opportunity to provide a state-of-the-art hospital in Manchester and are looking forward to developing the strong working relationship we have built with Nuffield Health in the pre-construction phase of the project.

“Kier has built over £2bn of healthcare facilities in the past 12 years and we’ll be using our experience and expertise in this sector to ensure we deliver a world class facility for patients.”
