Hitchen’s Neighbourhood expanding into Leeds

James Hitchen

Manchester-based entrepreneur James Hitchen – the man behind the restaurants Neighbourhood and Victors – has revealed ambitious plans to launch in Leeds, before further expansion across the UK.

His company East Cast Concepts is launching Neighbourhood in the Yorkshire city after taking over the former Carluccio’s unit in the centre of Greek Street – the New York-inspired celebrity hotspot – opening in autumn.

Hitchen says it will be an all-day dining destination “morphing into one of the UK’s hottest parties by night”.

The lavish £1.7m interior created by restaurant and bar designer Edwin Pickett will host weekly themed events and monthly champagne brunch parties – with DJs, performances and live entertainment.

Inspired by New York’s dining district, Hitchen has been shaking up the restaurant and bar scene since the launch of the first Neighbourhood in Manchester’s Spinningfields in 2012 and the second Neighbourhood in Liverpool in 2016.

Neighbourhood’s sister brand Victor’s – an elegant and contemporary Hamptons-inspired dining concept in the wealthy Greater Manchester suburb of Hale – has also seen massive success since its launch in 2014 and has exciting expansion plans to be revealed in the coming months.

Hitchen said: “The concept behind Neighbourhood is to create the best party imaginable, perpetually occurring, always delivering, visionary but without pretence or artifice – the sort of experience that feels like it is once in a lifetime, but is actually always available at Neighbourhood to those in the know.

‘We’ve been planning to come to Leeds for a while and now feels like exactly the right time. It’s an extremely exciting development for the brand and a whole new entertainment concept for the city.”
