New restaurant for Royal Exchange

A new restaurant is to be launched at Manchester’s Royal Exchange, named after the very first production at the theatre back in 1976 -The Rivals.

The Royal Exchange’s restaurant, bars and cafe will be fully redeveloped, including the introduction of an indoor beer garden to celebrate the stunning architecture of the Exchange’s Great Hall.

The new eatery is a collaboration between the theatre, Rupert Hill and Goska Langrish.

Rupert is both a stage and screen actor and co-owner of the successful venues The Castle Hotel, Gulliver’s, The Eagle Inn, Baker’s Vaults and part of the team who launched The Parlour – winner of the coveted Observer Food Monthly Best Sunday Lunch Award.

Goska Langrish has a long-established career in hospitality, both here and in London and was instrumental in the success of The Parlour.

Hill said: “We will be bringing not just a great new food and drink offer (including a wide range of cask ales and craft beers), but also a commitment to all the arts in our own events programing and promotion.”

Langrish added: “We aim to run our sites like a family business and we hope to bring this same inclusive and warm approach to The Royal Exchange.”

The indoor beer garden will be open today (August 31), whilst The Rivals restaurant and bar will be open to the public on the September 14.
