Vinci starts on £16m bus station for Wigan

Warrington-based Vinci Construction has started preparing groundworks for a £16m bus station in Wigan.
The new facility is being built on the site of the old bus station on Hallgate and will include a single, covered concourse building with 19 drive-in, reverse-out stands, cycle parking and better access in and out of the town centre.
The project was masterminded by Transport for Greater Manchester with consultants Mott MacDonald, Aaustin-Smith:Lord and IBI Group, and is expected to be complete late in 2018.
John Roberts, regional director for Vinci, told Construction Enquirer: “We look forward to strengthening our ties with the local Wigan community and its residents, while delivering a state-of-the-art bus station for the future commuters in and out of the town to enjoy.”
